We’d like to take this opportunity to wish all of our customers and friends very happy holidays and a happy new year from everyone at ESG. This year we’ve included some of our highlights across the year with our charities across the UK and US.
This year we supported Derian House with various charity events – our ESG team took part in Tough Mudder, which is more than just a normal 10k. Military-style obstacles demand you crawl, vault, or even swim your way forward, often with the assistance of fellow “Mudders”. Along with a sizeable cash donation, every year ESG organise a Toy Collection to Derian House so that children get spoilt at Christmas time.
In the US, we partner with the YMCA through monetary donations and volunteer work throughout the year. This year a team of volunteers visited the South Shore YMCA Family Farm to participate in hands-on learning while giving back to the community. YMCA Family Farm was previously unused land has been brought into cultivation using sustainable and ecologically sound practices. The farm supports the mission of YMCA by providing educational opportunities and growing fresh produce to donate to food pantries, such as the Hanover Food Pantry and the South Shore YMCA Food Pantry. Volunteers are crucial for the farm’s operations. Individuals, families, and groups volunteer their time to help with all aspects of the farm, such as planting, weeding, harvesting, composting, and mulching.
We’re proud to support Inspire Youth Zone in Chorley through a series of initiatives and mentoring schemes aimed at making a positive impact on young people’s lives. This summer, ESG proudly became a Platinum Patron of Inspire Youth Zone, reinforcing our commitment to aiding hundreds of young individuals weekly. Our team participated in the Chorley 10k, raising funds to sustain the Youth Zone as a safe space year-round. ESG also sponsored the Team Player of the Year award at Inspire’s Inspired Awards Night, recognising youth achievements. During the holiday season, we contributed to Inspire’s Secret Santa gifting scheme, providing essential items for the Chorley community. Lastly, as a gift to local children in need associated with the Inspire team, we have bought a number of blankets and hot water bottles for the winter period, and we will continue to provide financial support to the Youth Zone in 2024.
We have adopted families that need support during this holiday season, sponsoring children with winter attires and items from their wish lists. In addition, we’ve supplied extra food vouchers for families in need during this time of the year. We will be handing out these items in December to spread joy to these families in need.
Our support to Chorley Help the Homeless, a dedicated local charity, has helped addressing the challenges faced by those at risk or affected by being homeless in the community. We have provided support through large cash, food and clothing donations throughout the year; including this Christmas time. We are committed to continuing our partnership with Chorley Help the Homeless through 2024 in their admirable efforts to create a positive impact on the lives of those facing homelessness.
In a first for ESG in 2023, we sponsored a back-to-school drive. We partnered with a local organization, Building Brothers, which is actively changing the narrative for inner city children. A Wishlist was created on Amazon for ESG to donate to this cause. We matched every dollar spent on school supplies for this back-to-school initiative.
Building Brothers’ mission is to provide services to at-risk children in the Boston area through peer-to-peer mentoring, after-school programs, basketball camps, and fellowship. Their first back-to-school giveaway took place on August 20th, for Boston youth of all ages. It is their goal to provide 250 backpacks for children, complete with everything they need to get started in school.
We organised a volunteering initiative focusing on community engagement and environmental stewardship with the Lancashire Wildlife Trust, led by our founder, Martin Evans on Lytham St Annes sandy shoreline. The project involved strategically placing old Christmas trees in the sand, fostering the accumulation of wind-blown sand to enhance the growth of embryo dunes. Over the last few years, our contribution to this initiative has resulted in a substantial expansion of the sand dunes, with some areas experiencing growth of up to 80m. We are always proud to support such impactful sustainability efforts in our community.
We take great pride in our partnership with Discovery House, a dedicated charity aiding women and children escaping domestic violence. This year, we helped in the renovation of their Child Development Center, where our team tapped into their creativity to design innovative concepts for each section of the center. All aimed at providing a safe and uplifting environment for those seeking refuge.
In 2023 we continued supporting Smart Works Centre in Manchester through various initiatives. Volunteers played a crucial role in setting up the new Smart Works office in Manchester – from unpacking clothing donations to assembling new racks and office furniture, our team ensured a setup for the styling team to assist women in need. Additionally, our colleagues generously donated interview-appropriate clothing in a successful clothing drive, benefiting local women re-entering the workforce. Our commitment extended to participating in the Cycle for Smart Works event, where our team cycled, swam, and walked to raise funds for the Greater Manchester branches. We are proud to contribute to Smart Works’ mission of empowering women through career support and professional attire.
We visited the YMCA North Pole to volunteer to pack presents for families in need. Our teams will be volunteering again next year!
