Summary

We deliver sophisticated software solutions and managed services in a Private Cloud infrastructure, servicing both traditional and modern real-time, smart energy clients.

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for delivery of projects and programmes, including customer facing project work and Industry change projects.

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the on-time, budget, scope and quality delivery of all projects and programmes within their remit, and to ensure timely handover of projects to Accounts Management and Operations following rigorously defined project closure.
ESG projects vary in size and complexity according to the solution being implemented, ranging from small projects and work requests to multi-year industry change programmes. The Senior Project Manager is accountable for managing larger scale projects or programme’s/sub-portfolios in various phases of the lifecycle from pipeline to post go-live support.

Role Responsibilities

Key Objectives:

  • Deliver projects within the ESG projects portfolio to the appropriate level of Time/Cost/Quality/Scope with a focus on ensuring the right level of governance relevant to meet company targets
  • Ensure projects are delivered as efficiently and effectively as possible, with a focus on project closure and handover to BAU
  • To represent ESG at specific Industry events and forums where relevant
  • To assist with Pre-sales engagement to ensure projects are correctly sized, scoped and costed
  • To serve as a senior member of the Professional Services Team demonstrating the key values of Trust, Empowerment, Passion and Expertise

The Senior Project Manager is:

  • Responsible for all project and programme delivery within their remit
    • Responsible for engaging with the relevant teams (e.g. sales & account management teams; IT; engineering etc) to ensure successful delivery of committed projects on time, on budget and to the required level of quality, escalating key risks and issues that may prevent this from happening
  • Responsible for engaging with the pre-sales, finance and legal teams to ensure projects are correctly scoped, planned, sized and costed for Projects within their area including continuously refining baselines for the use of estimating and by supporting the delivery of new quotations
  • Working with Account Managers and/or SDMs to ensure appropriate key customer stakeholder management within projects and programmes from project management to CxO level
  • Acting as an escalation point for delivery issues
  • Responsible for supporting the allocation of projects within the Projects team according to skills/ knowledge/capacity
  • Responsible for inputting a monthly Portfolio Management Board to oversee the delivery of the Portfolio across the business
  • Monitoring the financial health of the Portfolio against company revenue targets for Projects within your remit
  • Escalating Portfolio level risks, issues and dependencies that need close attention and action
  • Promoting the sharing of lessons learned across the Projects team and beyond
  • Responsible for ensuring the creation, review & approval of all relevant project related commercial documents such as Statements of Work (SOWs)
  • Management of appropriate RAID logs according to Project need
  • Ownership of the project delivery lifecycle framework, processes, procedures and templates relevant to your area(s)

  • A proven track record as an experienced Projects or Programme Manager in an IT software company
  • Considerable (3+ years) experience in IT programme & services delivery

  • Excellent time and task management capability

Qualification, Attributes & Experience

Flexible working will be required to meet sales opportunity and delivery timelines & locations – expectation that the Senior Project Manager will ‘go the extra mile’ for the customer and for the company. Travel will be required for the purpose of meeting with clients, stakeholders, or off-site personnel/management. Flexibility for travel is critical as this is a mobile, onsite, customer facing role, travel is likely to be ‘hit and run’ day here, day there in nature.

The following areas of expertise are mandatory:

  • 3+ years’ experience in commercial IT software projects & programmes at a minimum of a Project Management role
  • IT software experience in a management or delivery capacity
  • Experience of the full IT software development lifecycle
  • Experience of delivering large projects or programmes into commercial organisations
  • Commercial experience of pre-sales & delivery of projects, with pre-canned products & services
  • Experience of defining, documenting and supporting end to end processes for standardisation
  • Experience of direct customer facing stakeholder management roles, interfacing to customer contacts at all levels from technical to C-level
  • Experience of owning and running projects / programme budgets > £0.5m / 2,000 man days of work
  • PRINCE2 Foundation / Practitioner
  • Managing Successful Programmes Foundation / Practitioner (not essential)
  • Previous experience in the Utilities Industry is highly desirable
