A Faster Energy Transition is a Cheaper One

Illuminem have released an article highlighting the importance of reducing carbon emissions to reduce cost and accelerate the energy transition. Many countries have pledged to keep global warming below 1.5 °C and in order to do so, our energy systems need to be carbon emission free by 2050. The accelerated pathways that are in place are projected to be 21% cheaper than a gradual phasing out of fossil fuels. This would mean a $4 trillion saving over a 30-year period.
