Role Summary

Clients include a host of well-known energy providers, both UK and overseas-based.

Utiligroup’s in house dual fuel billing platform is built upon Microsoft Dynamics utilising C#, SQL Server ASP.Net and various other technologies. As part of the Billing team you will be expected to support the CRM & Billing software.

We’re looking for an individual with an analytical approach to solving data related problems. You should be confident working with large and complex data sets, and possess the ability to identify trends in data and suggest and implement both root cause and data fixes to provide a high standard of support to our customer base and internal teams.

Role Responsibilities

Customer Support & Solutions:

  • Investigate issues raised by customers, resolving via data fixes using SQL or implementing root cause development bug fixes where appropriate
  • Working with other team members to identify issues and determine root cause. Taking ownership of issues where required
  • To respond to help desk queries raised by Suppliers
  • Handle large data sets and provide bulk data fixes where necessary
  • Prioritise daily workload to ensure high priority incidents are dealt with in a timely manner

Ongoing Improvement:

  • To identify opportunities and define the requirements for product improvements
  • Review and understand existing database structures and suggest improvements where necessary
  • Work with project teams, third parties and customers to identify and implement considerations for supporting new software in a production environment and subsequently resolve application /systems/ integration issues post production release
  • Work with 1st line support team to identify and develop scripts for execution of commonly used data fixes for use by 1st line support team
  • Work closely with wider business to refine system monitoring and reporting, and to assist in their implementation
  • Optimise and maintain legacy systems

Communication:

  • Follow internal processes when operating on production environments
  • Follow JIRA/Git/in-house software processes and update accordingly
  • To understand the importance of quality control, to comply with all relevant standards and procedures and participate in quality assurance and control activities
  • To understand the importance of change control and work within a formal change control system
  • To understand the importance of configuration management and participate within the formal configuration management system
  • To report progress and participate in progress meetings

Skills & Attributes

You must possess:

  • 3-year experience in a software development or software support position
  • 3-year experience with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with C#/.Net (VB.NET desirable, but not essential)

Skills & Attributes

  • Experience of software development and support, with the following technologies:
    • SQL Server, C#, .Net (Essential)
    • Microsoft CRM, ASP.Net, React JS, SSRS (Desirable)
  • Experience of understanding complex database structures and the confidence to suggest improvements where necessary
  • Confidence dealing with large data sets and providing bulk data fixes where necessary
  • Proven experience of supporting software in a production environment
  • Ability to provide software process improvements is essential
  • Good problem solving approach
  • Good inter-personal skills and the ability to build strong relationships in a business to business environme
  • Good understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Positive Attitude; someone who takes ownership of problems and takes pride in their work
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Working knowledge of the Energy Industry is desirable, but not essential
