Summary
We are an innovative and market leading software & services company based in Chorley serving clients in the utility sector ranging from new entrants to large existing suppliers. We deliver sophisticated software solutions and managed services in a Private Cloud infrastructure, servicing both traditional and modern real-time, smart energy clients.
Given the ongoing situation with COVID, you will initially work remotely, with dedicated support being provided by a senior team member by way of Teams, Slack, Phone, Screensharing etc. Our goal will be to return to our Chorley based office in the coming months, which is where you will be based. However, there will still be an option of working remotely when this happens under ESG’s Hybrid Remote Working Policy. During your probation period, which is 6 months, you will be expected to attend the office frequently for training.
Position Responsibilities
As a Business Analyst at ESG you will:
- Be responsible for gathering and documenting business and industry requirements
- Work with key stakeholders to define requirements and develop acceptance criteria
- Work with development, release management, testing, and business delivery teams to prioritise change tickets and bring new features and functionality to successful release
- Work on medium to large scale projects & guide junior members of the team throughout the SystemDevelopment Lifecycle (SDLC)
- Liaise with all areas of the business & external clients to ensure that project/product deliverables are achieved
- Develop, maintain, and expand your industry knowledge, ensuring it remains consistent with the latest industry baseline & cognizant of forthcoming industry change
- Produce functional requirements documentation for use by developers and test analysts in the development and test of ESG software products
- Provide industry expertise and interpretation of industry compliance requirements
- Create and maintain product guides and user documentation
- Provide training to colleagues and clients on ESG products
- Contribute to the project planning process by providing estimates of effort and elapsed time for the assigned work and to advise of any deviations from the plan
Position Qualifications
A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Business Analyst or in an equivalent role
Formal Business Analysis qualification such as BCS/ISEB/CBAP is desirable
About You
- Experience as a Business Analyst or similar, ideally having worked in an Agile software development environment
- Experience of the full Software Lifecycle, working closely with developers and testers to produce detailed, accurate and testable requirements is desirable
- Experience in the Domestic Energy sector, preferably in Smart or Traditional Metering, is highly desirable
- You’ll have passion, drive and be committed to delivering high quality solutions, with an attention to detail and the ability to understand and break down complex requirements
- You’ll be a team player and able to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- You’ll have the confidence to proactively make and stand by decisions to shape outcomes
- You’ll be adept at extracting business requirements and acceptance criteria from a range of stakeholders
- You’ll have experience in Business Process Modelling and Re-Engineering, User Stories and Acceptance Criteria
- You will be comfortable facilitating and participating in workshops, giving presentations to senior stakeholders and leading Agile ceremonies
- Experience with Visio, Jira and Confluence is desirable
- Experience in producing detailed functional requirements documentation for changes
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to present information concisely
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels
