Summary

We are an innovative and market leading software & services company based in Chorley serving clients in the utility sector ranging from new entrants to large existing suppliers. We deliver sophisticated software solutions and managed services in a Private Cloud infrastructure, servicing both traditional and modern real-time, smart energy clients. We operate a Hybrid working policy so you will be able to flex between working in the office and your home location to carry out this role. but during your initial training period the need to be in office full time with other team members will be essential.

Position Responsibilities

As a Lead UX designer at ESG you will:

  • Manage the User Experience roadmap and strategy while being the voice of the user across the business to translate users’ needs into requirements
  • Champion User Experience across the business via lunch and learn sessions or presentations
  • Help with the day to day running of the User Experience Team including stand ups, sprint planning and mentoring a junior designer
  • Help to inform design decisions by carrying out user research, using various methods such as customer journey mapping, user interviews, field studies and user testing
  • Run workshops and ideation/brainstorming sessions to drive collaboration between various stakeholders including product managers, business analysts, developers and testers
  • Produce Low/High Fidelity prototypes with the ability to communicate the designs/ideas that can be understood by both users, developers and other stakeholders
  • Continuous improvement and management of our UI Design System
  • Work with key stakeholders to define requirements and develop acceptance criteria from a user perspective
  • Apply User Interface Design and be hands on when needed to ensure designs are applied correctly across our software applications
  • Manage and drive marketing assets into the UI design system and software applications to drive brand consistency
  • Work with development, release management, testing, and business delivery teams to prioritise UX tickets and bring new features and functionality to successful release
  • Work on medium to large scale projects & guide junior members of the team throughout the System Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Contribute to the project planning process by providing estimates of effort and elapsed time for the assigned work and to advise of any deviations from the plan.

Position Qualifications

A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a UX designer or in an equivalent role

About You

  • Experience as a UX designer or similar, ideally having worked in an Agile software development environment
  • Have a natural empathy for users and their needs and be able to translate them to the business stakeholders
  • Experience of the full Software Lifecycle, working closely with developers and testers.
  • Experience in prototyping with Figma is highly desirable
  • Have a good knowledge of User Research Methods, specifically moderated user testing
  • You will be comfortable facilitating and participating in workshops and giving presentations to senior stakeholders
  • Experienced in communicating designs and ideas to various stakeholders with a specific empathy towards developers and technical constraints
  • You’ll have passion, drive and be committed to delivering high quality solutions, with an attention to detail and the ability to understand and break down complex requirements
  • Experience in the Domestic Energy sector is desirable
  • You’ll be a team player and able to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • You’ll have the confidence to proactively make and stand by decisions to shape outcomes
  • You’ll be adept at extracting business requirements and acceptance criteria from a range of stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to present information concisely
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Experience with Adobe Suite, Jira and Confluence is desirable
  • Some Experience with HTML, CSS and/or JS would be useful (to aid management of UI Design System) but not essential.
