Reaching net zero will require major changes in two main areas: transport and buildings. Shifts in these areas will create winners and losers and this will be further reviewed as to where the costs will fall in a report set to publish later this year. Along with a financial barrier there will also be an attitudinal barrier among consumers who will require educating and encouraging to help them understand the benefits of installations such as heat pumps. These changes will be costly for the country but the financial and environmental gain long term will be great.
Conservative MP John Penrose issued his independent report 'Power to the People' where he recommends measures to reform the UK's competition market for the digital era. It has the potential to change how the energy sector deals with pricing and consumer engagement.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is developing their 4.0 version framework that will reap benefits on an economic and environmental level when it comes to the interconnectivity capabilities of devices and equipment.
