The UK government launched its Net-Zero strategy with support to drive the adoption of heat-pumps and EVs. As we prepare to speak at EMC on 7th October, this article by Wired describes the transformation needed in order for us to be prepare for the renewable revolution. Matt Simon, a science journalist at Wired, says an ideal world would be a creation of a single national grid so when the afternoon sun generates power in the Southwest any excess energy can be sent to the East Coast in time for peak demand, whilst also drawing wind power from the Midwest. On 4th September, at the Fully Charged Live Event, Ofgem's Director of Strategy and Decarbonisation, Neil Kenward, said that there will be a "three prong approach of increased use of electric vehicles, smart charging and vehicle-to-grid technology which together can help drive down costs for all GB bill payers.”
We are happy to announce that Professional Services Director Karen Lee has been formally appointed as a Performance Assurance Board member of the Retail Energy Code - as a supplier representative, alongside Paul Everett and Andy Knowles (separately to her role at ESG).
The PAB was formed to identify and address poor performance and compliance-focused responses and to escalate and apply performance assurance techniques, supporting the vision of the REC to provide a best-in-class industry code.
This appointment comes at the same time that Karen celebrates 30 years in the energy industry.

ESG supports over 4 million of those meters via our Smart products and services, with approximately 40% of all UK smart meters contracted for deployment through our software by 2025.
